Quinta da Alfarrobeira

Quinta da Alfarrobeira is an estate of 6 ha. built in 1730 and situated in the countryside about 5 km from Lagos, 3 minutes from the village of Odiáxere.

The main house has a lot of character. It has high rooms with authentic bamboo ceilings and walls about 60 cm thick. All kind of little terraces with colourfull flowers are surrounding the house, each with its own atmosphere.

The quinta is named after the alfarrobeira tree which stands next to the house. It's a huge carob tree hundreds of years old.

As the quinta is built on a hill there are magnificent views of the rural country with its old almond, fig and olive trees, and even the distant mountains of Serra de Monchique can be seen.

The estate is run to be as friendly for the environment as possible. Garbage is separated, ecological cleaning products are used, and solar panels provide hot water.

The guest houses

Two of the buildings at the quinta have been converted in to self-catering guest houses. They are built in traditional style and decorated with rustic antique furniture. Both houses are centrally heated.

One of them, called "A Granja" is connected to the main house but has its own entrance. The house contains a double bedroom, a livingroom with a fireplace and a double couch, a kitchenette with an antique natural stone sink, an azulejo tiled bathroom, and two private terraces. Suitable for 2-4 persons.

The other house, "A Vivenda " is freely situated. It has a twin bedroom, a double bedroom, a big livingroom with a huge antique fireplace and a double couch, a separate kitchen with a beautiful Italian cooker and a dishwasher, a shower, a laundryroom, and a big veranda as well as a private terrace. Suitable for 4-6 persons.

There is a large swimmingpool surrounded by flowers and antique sunbeds, with restfull views over the nearby olive groves. The pool can of course be used by the guests.

Lagos - 5 km, Odiáxere - 3 km, Meia Praia (beach) - 2 km, Palmares Golf - 1 km.
