Quinta da Alcaidaria-Mór
Just one hour drive from Lisbon, and a few minutes from Fátima Sanctuary one of the most important centers of pilgrimage in the world, is this farm located 2 km from Ourém. It has been the property of the same family since the 17th century.
The houses are completely restored, and can in relaxing atmosphere offer 5 comfortable guest rooms, 1 one-bedroom apartment (T1) for 1-2 pers. and 2 teo-bedroom apts. (T2) for 3-5 pers. All with private bathroom and central heating.

In the garden is an old chapel where Nuno Álvares Pereira is said to have prayed on his way to the battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. There is also a swimming pool.
With its 18 ha the quinta invites you to explore by foot, with bicycle (to borrow), or on horse back (to be booked ahead of time).
Quinta da Alcaidaria-Mór is an ideal base for exploring the historic countryside. Within a radius of 58 km there are many places to visit:
- Ourém Castle, on the top of the hill conquered from the Moors by the king Afonso Henriques in 1135. Magnificent views.
- Tomar – 18 km. One of the oldest and most charming towns in Portugal with Templar's Castle and the Convent of Christ.
- Golegã area– 35 km. Characterised by its vast meadows on which horses and bulls are raised.
- Castelo do Bode dam – 28 km. A large reservoir where it is practised water sports.
- Almourel Castle – 38 km. In the middle of the river Tejo.
- Caves of Mira d’Aire – 25 km.
- Leiria – 25 km. Dominated by a delightful 12th century castle.
- Batalha – 32 km. Spectacular 14th century monastary, the national monument of Portugal, Manueline architecture.
- Alcobaça – 50 km. Magnificent 12th century manaster bulit in thanksgiving for King Afonso Henriques' victory over the Moors in 1147.
- Nazaré – 58 km. Fishing village with seafood restaurants, long beach, and marvellous sea view from the Sítio.
- S. Pedro de Moel – 48 km. Very attractive beach in the middle of a pine forrest.
